October 1471

I sat there in the darkness, feeling a sense of thrill pulsate through my veins. The darkness is a place of fear, haunting people since the dawn of days as a thing of evil. However in my eyes it is a cocoon, embracing me from every corner, nurturing my every need.

My eyes shot open to four white walls which seemed like a prison. I was alone in here. Always alone, except for when my sister comes in and checks on me every once in a while. It’s been about 5 years since the day I was recovered from that mad mans pit. It’ll be any day now that I’ll finally be free of this institutes meddling. My life will finally head in a direction better suited for me.

However a sense of fear still clings on to me. What if something were to happen where my life begins to spiral down once again?

“Mr.Alviero its time to take your pill”

I turned my head to look at a woman I learned to loathe. Her disgusting fat and sweaty hide repulsed me. If it were up to me…

“Put your head up! I don’t know how many times I’ve told you, you’re going to choke one day!”

“Oh Betty….what would I do without you.”

She sighed, her fat plump cheeks turning rather red.

“Lucius, if it weren’t for me you wouldn’t be half the man you are today. I remember bringing you in-“

“Betty….that’s quite enough nonsense for today. Leave me.”

Dear old Betty simply nodded and walked away in silent rage. Her words irritated me. How presumptuous of that repulsive ball of dough. She doesn’t understand anything at all. Though…I do suppose I’m the one in the crazy house. The thought of that caused a large grin to spread across my lips.

My eyes shut once again, and I drifted into a world entirely my own.

What is that? It’s…penetrating the darkness around it…its so puhweety.

I pulled myself closer to the strange thing and tried grabbing it but after a few sad attempts I found that it was impossible to take grasp of. However it felt warm, and soothing. What is this?

“Lucius” I turned my head to see a dark figure

“Lucius”

“Lucius wake up already!”

My eyes opened and began to focus on the blurry, intangible sight before me. However it didn’t take much for me to realize it was my sister Alessandra.

“Today is the day you’ve been dying for!”

“Is it my birthday again?”

“No!” she slightly smacked me on the head

“Today’s the day you finally get to leave this god awful place.”

“Well that’s a relief I suppose. I guess I should start packing then…”

“No need for that, the nurses already packed anything that belonged to you. They said somethin’ about not wanting to stress you and yadda yadda yadda”

I can’t possibly imagine how something like that would stress me out. I guess they don’t want me turning into a raging madman and killing everyone with safety pins.

“I’ll give you some time to get ready and not look like hell.” she winked and before I could say another word she was out the door. I sighed and began to shuffle out of bed. Home sounds good. I walked over to the tiny closet provided in my most comfortable room and pulled out the clothes I suppose the nurses left for me. I really hate this shirt.

Outside it was chaotic. I never left my room for anything except for the few times the staff insisted you go out for fresh air. However this place was very quaint for being a mad house. Its structure was of cement which was coated with a deep rich brown paint; it easily welcomed the fine marble floors. Above were small chandeliers which cast a soothing warm light to the affected are. Can’t say that much about the rooms though.

“lu! Over here!”

I turned to see my sister sitting in a chair almost as big as her. She had a stack of papers in her lap which I assumed I had to sign.

“Fuckin’ A lu, thought you’d never come out.”

I almost forgot about my sisters’ mouth. She seemed to curse every other sentence.

“Here I obtained all the papers you need to sign; they said you could bring it in tomorrow evening since they figured you’d need time to sort through this mess of documents.”

“Fair enough”

“Alright big bro lets hit the road. You’ll be crashing with me and my boyfriend for however long you need. You know i'm here for you now that you’re out.”

Sounds absolutely lousy “sounds great!’

She smiled and began walking me out. Goodbye my dear mad house. I shall miss you indeed.

Curiosity took a firm grasp around me for I wondered what my new life will bring to me.
